| | When I went home in December, my parents were raving about the latest natural health product - pysllium husk. Not only does it help you go, it helps lower your cholesterol too!! Now being the in-house pessimist, I thought to myself "what kind of nonsense did they get caught up in this time?!!" But of course, being the in-house "scientist", I decided to give this product a try, since it's there and a little extra fiber in my diet couldn't do any harm.
To my utter surprise, this stuff does work!! I'm not too sure about the cholesterol part, but it really does help you poop (okay so i'm not a lady and i say poop)! For someone who does not have a regular bowel movement, ever since taking a spoon full each morning, all irregularities have been regularized (is this a word??). As a wise person once said, "A poop a day makes a happy person", I sure am over the hills these days. No I'm just kidding, I don't think anybody said that, but I can just imagine people with constipation being very unhappy.
This is the psyllium husk I take: You can get it off amazon for $5.25 (Hooray for amazon!!!!!). I think it cost a buck load more in Malaysia (no mom I'm not carting back any for you..). Make sure you take it with a cup full of liquid (I recommend milk or juice, not water). I'm not sure about the heart health claim on the bottle, but for one it absorbs fluids and expands in your stomach, so you're less hungry and eat less .. haha.. diet trick!!!
